NL – De derde prijs gaat dit jaar naar Lique Schoot (1969) uit Arnhem.
Zij verdient naar het inzicht van de jury deze prijs voor haar inzending die uit drie grote zelfportretten bestaat, om volgende reden: in een tijd die bol staat van het gebruik van beelden `uit de tweede hand` (d.w.z. uit de media, uit de reclame, uit de virtuele realiteit etc.) is schilderijen maken die de eigen beeldtenis ondervragen aan de hand van de stijl van die openbare beelden, een zeer krachtige en bewuste keuze.
Als persoonlijke beleving van de werkelijkheid kan dit tellen.

ENG – This year the third prize goes to Lique Schoot (1969) from Arnhem.
She deserves the prize for her entry which consists of three large self-portraits for the following reason. In a time that is full of the use of images ‘from the second hand’ (ie from the media, from advertising, from the virtual reality, etc.) is making paintings that interrogate their own image with the style of those public images, a very powerful and conscious choice.
This can count as a personal experience of reality.
