The work is a memory of Lique’s grandmother.
As an artist with a western immigration background Lique decided to make a digital collage of a photo from her Indonesian grandmom in combination with a photo from her photo diaries (Self-portrait 19 09 19). In 1946 she and her family moved to the Netherlands after surviving the Japanese POW camps.
The work was part of the exhibition ‘Immigration Centuries’ at the A.I.R. Gallery in New York.
